# How to Add Devices to Your McAfee Subscription Plan

> Add Windows, Mac, Android, or iPhone devices to your McAfee subscription from My Account after activating your McAfee product key at mcafee.com/activate.

Once you have activated your subscription at mcafee.com/activate, you can add multiple devices to your McAfee plan at any time through the My Account portal at home.mcafee.com. Whether you are setting up protection on a family member's Android phone, a home Mac, or a work Windows laptop, the process is quick and requires only your account login — no additional product keys needed. This guide covers how to install McAfee after activating your subscription on every device your plan supports.

  <Step title="Log into home.mcafee.com">
    Open a browser and go to [home.mcafee.com](https://home.mcafee.com). Sign in using the email and password associated with the account you created at mcafee.com/activate.

  <Step title="Click My Devices in the left menu">
    Once logged in, locate the **My Devices** section in the left-hand navigation menu. This page shows all devices currently linked to your subscription and lets you manage them in one place.

  <Step title="Click Add Device">
    Click the **Add Device** button to begin adding a new device to your subscription. You will be prompted to select the type of device you want to protect.

    Select the appropriate device type from the options provided: **PC** (Windows), **Mac**, **Android**, or **iPhone/iPad** (iOS). McAfee will tailor the download and installation instructions to match the platform you selected.

  <Step title="Download directly or email a link to yourself">
    If you are adding the device you're currently using, click **Download** to save the McAfee installer immediately. If you are adding a different device — such as a family member's phone — select **Email a Download Link** and enter their email address to send them the installation link directly.

    On the target device, open the downloaded installer (or follow the link from the email) and complete the McAfee installation. When the installation finishes, sign in with your McAfee account credentials inside the app. The device will then appear as protected in your My Devices dashboard.

## Device Limits by Plan

The number of devices you can add depends on your active McAfee subscription plan:

If you are on the Essential plan and have reached the 5-device limit, remove an unused device from My Devices before adding a new one. Upgrading to any McAfee+ plan removes the device cap entirely.

  You can send a download link directly to a family member's phone from within the My Account dashboard — no need for them to visit mcafee.com/activate or handle the technical setup. Just click **Email a Download Link**, enter their email, and they will receive clear instructions to install McAfee on their device.

  Each device must be added separately through My Account. Shared or network-wide installations are not supported — every individual device (phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop) requires its own McAfee installation linked to your account in order to receive full protection.
